Punished Enough

John Piper on Fierce Tornadoes and the Fingers of God:

Why would God reach down his hand and drag his fierce fingers across rural America killing at least 38 people with 90 tornadoes in 12 states, and leaving some small towns with scarcely a building standing, including churches?

If God has a quarrel with America, wouldn’t Washington, D.C., or Las Vegas, or Minneapolis, or Hollywood be a more likely place to show his displeasure?

Hey now! I can understand why you might want to lump the other three locales together if you're talking about dens of iniquity, vice, and corruption deserving of a little Sodom and Gomorroah like wrath from above, but Minneapolis? Really? And who says that God hasn't already shown us how he feels through the workings of our local National Football League franchise? I don't think anyone's been confusing us with a Promised Land of late.

I picked up this little nugget in a post at Vox Popoli where Vox Day questions who it really is that Piper is worshipping with theological thinking such as this.
