Making Stephen King Look Like a Layabout

After viewing the horrendous 2002 sci-fi movie The Time Machine, starring Guy Pearce (you're a good actor get a new agent please), I was moved to go back an read the original novel by H.G. Wells which spawned such a monstrosity. My suspicions that Hollywood had played fast and loose with the original tale were confirmed. I picked up a version of The Time Machine in a collection of H.G. Wells works which also included The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Invisible Man, and The War of the Worlds. All of these novels are now part of the shared Western culture and each has been made into movies and TV shows and have inspired numerous copy cats and take offs on their themes.

And Wells penned them all within a four year period of his life. Talk about an amazingly prolific streak of writing that has withstood the test of time. Will William Shatner's Tek Series be able to make the same claim? Only time will tell.
