Another edition of Beer of the Week brought to you by the worldly folks at Glen Lake Wine & Spirits who have what you need to fill your cup. Since a good portion of the pale blue dot that we inhabit appears to be all caught in this Federation Internationale de Football Association World Cup thing, it seems appropriate that our Beer of the Week should come from one of the countries still alive and kicking in South Africa. Had Team USA been able to get past our hated nemesis Ghana, the choice would have an easy one. But that was not to be and so we look elsewhere.
Despite having a large Ghanaian émigré population in downtown Glen Lake, the sponsors of this weekly feature carry no beers from Ghana. Unbelievable. Nor do they stock any of the popular Uruguayan brews.
Same goes for Paraguay and Argentina (there's a SOUTH America too you know). Plenty of Spanish wine at Glen Lake Wine and Spirits, but no beer. You can't really call AmBev a Brazilian company so no luck there either. So we're down to two options: The Netherlands and Germany. Let's go with the Huns.
Paulaner is best known for brewing one of the planet's best hefeweizens. This week's featured beer is their Original Munich Lager.

Beer Style: Lager Alcohol by Volume: 4.9%
COLOR (0-2): Bright gold and clear. 1
AROMA (0-2): Light hops. 2
HEAD (0-2): Bright white, good volume, and lacing. 2
TASTE (0-5): Mild flavors of sweet, bready malt with a touch of citrus and the faintest whiff of hops. Light bodied, thin, and extremely drinkable. 3
AFTERTASTE (0-2): Crisp and clean. 1
OVERALL (0-6): It's hard for me to get real excited about any lager, but this is an above average offering of that style. Beats the heck out of the American macro lagers out there and makes for a pretty darn good lawn-mowing beer. 3
