Pioneers Blazing Trail To Repeat?

We're about halfway through today's first Frozen Four Semifinal, and the Denver Pioneers are all over the Colorado College Tigers. They're scored three power play goals while shutting down the CC offense completely.

UPDATE: Hold your wild horses there pardner. The Tigers just got on the board with a power play tally of their own. It's now 3-1 Denver with 10:11 remaining in the second period.

You can get updates on all the action here.

UPDATE II: Call a few more penalties why doncha? It may be time to insert a fork in the Tigers. The Pioneers scored yet another power play goal (their fourth of the game) with ten seconds left in the second period. Giving up a late period goal can be a back breaker. 4-1 DU after two.

UPDATE III: Somewhere Molly Ivins is singing. It's all but over now as Denver has tallied yet another power play goal to go up 5-1 with 9:27 left in the third. Bret Skinner is playing outside his box, as he has FIVE assists so far. The winner of tonight's Minnesota-North Dakota semifinal is going to have their work cut out for them on Saturday.

UPDATE IV: Denver moves on to Saturday's championship game by virtue of a 6-2 win. CC outshot DU 38-31, but could only solve Pioneer netminder Mannino twice. All eight goals in the game came on power plays, which is a little sad really. Let's hope the refs keep their whistles in their pockets a bit more tonight.
