Winds of Change At The Star Tribune?

When I spread out the editorial page of this morning's Minneapolis Star Tribune I was shocked to find a piece on the WMD "lies" by non other than James Lileks. To my knowledge this is the first time that the Strib has seen fit to pick up his Newhouse column. (Unfortunately it's not available online either at the Star Tribune or Newhouse) Usually the Strib editorial page is filled with the likes of Krugman, Dowd, Ivins, and Scheer so finding Lileks was a breathe of fresh air. Oh the Strib editors will throw us a bone every once in a while with a Safire or a George Will but the preponderance of the syndicated columnists featured definitely lean toward the left.

Coming on the heels of the news that the paper is reconsidering its PC position on sports nicknames you have to wonder if perhaps something is afoot. At this point it's far too early to tell and my previous experiences with the Strib leads me to remain very skeptical of their intentions. But it is a glimmer of hope.
