I’m convinced that the only reason that Wendy’s even has the Triple With Cheese on the menu is for psychological assuagement for those who order the Double With Cheese.
It’s pretty smart: they want to be able to let these people moderate their (at times) considerable guilt and conscience. You can almost hear the conversation in the head of a dieting customer: “Granted, I just consumed a Double With Cheese and I super-sized the fries AND the coke, but at least it wasn’t a Triple. I mean, I wasn't pigging out or anything.”
