In anticipation of Friday's spectacular Scotch tasting event at Keegan's Irish Pub in Minneapolis (7pm), I thought I'd whet your appetite with a daily preview of one of the fine selections of whisky that we'll be enjoying.
Today, the countdown continues, with the hearty flavor of Lagavulin:
Region: Islay
District: South Shore
Color - Full Amber
Nose - Sea-salt, peat, intense dryness, sherry.
Body - Full, smooth, firm.
Palate - The dryness is at first offset by the sweetness of the sherry character. As the palate develops, oily, grassy, and in particular, salty notes emerge.
Finish - A huge, powerful, bear hug of peat.
Score - 95
Mmmm...peat...
