That's Our Hannah

You may recall Hannah Allam, the young Pioneer Press reporter covering the waterfront and other small town civic issues until suddenly scooped up by the Knight Ridder empire to cover the war in Iraq. Soon she became the KR Bureau Chief in Baghdad and the gold standard for the TRUTH, at least according to her colleagues and employer.

She left Iraq in part because, in her words, it wasn't "fun" anymore. In between filing relentlessly negative copy about American efforts, she couldn't get a
good manicure
, couldn't find a good karaoke joint, or go to parties at night. So it was off to a relatively quiet assignment as the bureau chief in her ancestral homeland (before St. Paul) of Egypt.

We haven't heard much of her since then, (other than this grand unified MSM vision of the dismal state of our prospects in Iraq, in honor of the 3rd anniversary of the invasion). But I was intrigued to see her byline pop up just this week.

From what location you ask? Well, as a rule of thumb, if you're ever wondering where in the world Hannah Allam is, it's a good bet that it's wherever US interests can be most damaged in the information war against Islamic terrorists and tyrants.

And for now that means Iran. Her article is a portrayal of the brave potential enemy, their firm resolve, and fearsome capabilities in the face of feckless American threats (imagine that!). But in an Editor and Publisher feature, Hannah also reveals she is back to reporting from her old beat:

"Yesterday, i interviewed families in a gorgeous park, the traffic is clogged as usual, the hamburger joints and shopping centers are packed and the air pollution is still awful," she added. "The families I interviewed were much more worried about domestic issues such as unemployment/traffic/pollution than about a pre-emptive U.S. strike."

We look forward to future missives out of Iran from Hannah. At least until the hamburger joints and shopping centers are adversely affected.
