Smarter Not Harder

Klobuchar working on "middle class issues":

BAGLEY--Six months into her new job, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar's focus remains firm on fulfilling her campaign goal of representing the middle class.

The freshman Minnesota Democrat has a list of "middle class issues" that fill her plate--along with work on energy independence and consumer protection.

She predicts a major debate in the next year on health care.

"I personally think that the focus should be on health care costs and how we can make sure we have quality health care but reduce some of the paper-pushing and all the administrative costs," Klobuchar said Friday while meeting with about 25 Bagley residents.

Sounds good, doesn't it? It would be if Klobuchar was talking about health care reforms like changing the tax code to remove employers from the picture or expanding individual health saving accounts. But you know that her answer to problems related to health care (and anything else for that matter) is going to be govenment; the bigger and more intrusive the better.

Yes, the same government whose core compentencies are paper-pushing and incurring administrative costs is going to make our health care system cheaper and more efficient. Now, I can see why she was voted the "funniest" Senator in the class of '06.
