More On Corrections And Clarifications

Apparently the whole concept of clarifications and corrections isn't as clear to the folks at the Star Tribune as it is to our own Saint Paul. Power Line notes the latest failure of the Strib to come to grips with the yawning credibility gap of a certain columnist, punctuated by a letter to the editor from former Strib publisher Roger Parkinson that begins:

Nick Coleman made a big mistake in his Dec. 29 column, " 'Blog of the Year' goes to extremes."

And ends:

I assume it is still true that columnists are free to write their own opinions but not free to get their facts wrong.

This isn't a shot at said columnist taken by "anonymous character assassins from the sewers of the Internet." This is a refutation of his version of events by the publisher of the newspaper at the time. That's gotta hurt.

Almost enough to think that if the columnist in question had any sense of dignity, he'd be afraid to show his face in public. Based on his past behavior, it's not likely that he will seek to hide his shame, but just in case he does the guys at Kool Aid Report have issued a yellow alert to maintain vigilance. You really never can be too safe you know.
