Does Your Conscience Bother You?

The non-stop media frenzy on the newly revealed identity of Deep Throat has rapidly grown tiresome. The entire world now knows that it was disgruntled FBI executive W. Mark Felt. And this is relevant today...why?

It isn't. That is, of course, unless you're a member of the mainstream media. For months now it's been blow after blow to the MSM's credibility...Jayson Blair...Eason Jordan...Dan Rather...the Newsweek debacle...and on and on. This story is simply a chance for them to try and reassert their dominance and bolster their egos by hammering home the fact that 30 years ago a couple investigative journalists at the Washington Post were instrumental in the downfall of a sitting President...and that they're still holding out hope that the exact same thing could happen again today.

In reality, the MSM is behaving like some washed up junior league quarterback pulling out his senior yearbook and showing all his buddies that once upon a time, he was the big man on campus. He was the one who once led his team to victory. He was important...all those years ago.

The irony about it all is that it wasn't the Washington Post or the New York Times or any of the other traditionally respected sources of journalism that broke this story. It was Vanity Fair, a glossy pop culture and fashion monthly. If you're looking for another indication that the MSM is dying, there it is.
