Is This Thing On?

Twins' TV Analyst Blyleven Suspended:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Twins commentator Bert Blyleven has been suspended for two telecasts for accidentally using two profanities on the air during a pregame segment.

Blyleven uttered the words after slipping up during the segment--which he thought was being taped rather than aired live on Minneapolis-based WFTC 29. The words are on the FCC's list of words that can't be broadcast between 6 am and 10 pm. Blyleven apologized to viewers during the first inning of the Twins-Yankees game in New York yesterday. He said -- quote -- "I apologize to the viewers for my language ... It makes me feel bad. I'm sorry." Twins President Dave St. Peter says Blyleven is suspended for the Twins games against Tampa Bay tomorrow and Wednesday. He says it's too early to discuss further action.

No word if Blyleven was discussing the sorry state of the Twins starting pitching when he broke out his blue material.

JB DOUBTLESS ADDS

Bert (btw, have you noticed that only Bert from Bert and Ernie spells his name the same way?) clearly needs to be fired. Uttering profanities is something we cannot abide by here at Fraters. That, and the fact that BERT BLYLEVEN IS AN INSIPID, CLICHE-SPEWING, DREADFULLY DULL, MILQUETOAST COMPANY MAN!

Bert, here's just one of many tips I could offer to make yourself a little more bearable on the viewing public: it's pronounced "SixTH" not "SixTD". As in sixth inning. Got it? Good, now be sure to use it in your next broadcasting assignment.
