This Is What It Sounds Like When The Doves Cry

Congressional campaign manager resigns after admitting smear:

DFL congressional candidate Paul Ostrow said he asked his campaign manager to resign after learning that Jason Amundsen had tried to smear Keith Ellison, the DFL Party's endorsed candidate in the 5th District race.

Amundsen resigned Thursday after admitting that he circulated reports to the media of unsubstantiated 911 calls to police in 2005 by a woman complaining about Ellison.

Ellison's campaign manager, Dave Colling, said Thursday that the woman was disgruntled because she didn't get a job with a nonprofit group with which Ellison is associated and began harassing him. He said Ellison got a protection order against her.

Ostrow said he learned of Amundsen's possible involvement from weblogs, or blogs, that reported on it. He said he called Ellison on Thursday to tell him about Amundsen.

"I have never and would never authorize this," said Ostrow, adding he had no hint that Amundsen was doing it.

I'm glad that Mr. Amundsen is no longer a part of his campaign," Ellison said.

Who needs Republicans with DFLers like this?
