A Budding TWIG?

Another example of why editors and gatekeepers make newspapers so much more believable than blogs. It's not an egregious error, but since it has a local angle it caught my eye. A story in today's Strib reports that St. Louis Park High calls off classes:

The school calendar said today was a late start day for St. Louis Park High School. Now it's a no-school day.

The School District announced that classes are canceled today at the high school because of a water main break. However, staff are to report as usual.

The high school, with an enrollment of about 1,300 in grades 9 through 12, is on Texas Avenue between Interstate Hwy. 394 and Cedar Lake Road.

No, it's not. That would be the junior high school. Given that I live less than a mile away, I'm quite certain that the high school is not on Texas. Next time, the Strib reporters just might want to Google this sort of thing to be on the safe side since it looks like the vaunted keepers have once again been sleeping at the gate.

UPDATE: It turns out that it wasn't really a water main break, but rather a threat of violence that led the District to cancel classes at the senior high. It doesn't change the fact the the high school is still not where the Strib originally reported it was.
