Weathering The Storm

One of our readers has taken on the task on tracking the unsupported speculations emanating from local weathermanboy, Paul Douglas. Peter has now issued a BS storm advisor based on yesterday's Nowcast in the Star Tribune, which is no longer available online (Douglas' comments are in red, Peter's in blue):

Was Katrina made worse by global warming? The honest answer: I don't pretend to know.

Ahem. The honest answer is NO. Based on all of the information available from all sources, there is no way anyone can answer that question honestly with anything other than NO. If you remove the requirement for honesty, the range of possible answers is much broader.

M.I.T. researcher suggests a 50% increase in hurricane intensity in the last 50 years.

What? Has M.I.T. not seen the chart recently linked to by half of the bloggers on the planet? The one that shows that both the number and intensity of hurricanes has decreased since 1940? What information does M.I.T. have that contradicts the simple arithmetic of that table?

Global warming, and natural shifts in oceanic currents, may be brewing up meaner hurricanes.

Or maybe not. No sources provided. Thanks Paul.

By the way, it appears that the WeatherBoy has joined the world of blogging. Hmmm...Looks kinda familiar, don't it? Come to think of it, has anyone ever seen the Nihilist in Golf Pants and Paul Douglas together?
