The two sweetest words in the English language: de-fault! De-fault! De-fault!

Or more accurately for the Minnesota Vikings: back in. Back in! Back in! Yes, despite their best efforts to kick away yet another postseason berth by puking all over themselves at Washington, the Vikes are now officially in the NFC playoffs as a result of Carolina's loss to New Orleans. If there is any justice in the world, the Rams will lose (they're battling the Jets in OT right now) so that the Saints get in. A team that goes on the road and beats a quality opponent in a must-win game deserves to be rewarded.

While next week's playoff appearance more than likely means yet another humiliating loss on the road, Viking fans should recall the '87 squad that also backed in to the playoffs. They then scored upset victories over the Saints and Niners on the road before falling to Washington in the NFC championship game.

UPDATE: There is no justice. At least not for the Saints as the Rams prevail in overtime. This means the Vikings will face the hated Packers on the frozen tundra of Curly Lambeau Field next Sunday and try to avenge two heart-wrenching regular seasons losses to the Green and Gold, both ending on last minute field goals with identical scores of 34-31. Will the third time be the charm for The Purple?
